i think its related to wether or not you have discrete on/off functions, as if its on and you send on, it will stay on, but if its set with a single on/off then it will just toggle. while most original remotes only have a single on/off, most good manufacturers to have discrete on and off buttons, in this case that is what should be used to avaid this
