  • Google Home now finds Sofabaton... but what now? 1 year ago

To use an activity you say "Hey Google, turn on (activity name)" using the name of the activity you defined in the Sofabaton app. The activity will activate and the remote will switch to the selected activity controls. You can also create a custom 'routine' in the Home app and the activities will be listed as "scenes" in the device control list, so you could create a routine to activate an activity and maybe dim your smart bulbs with the same command. There is no way currently to control an individual device (Harmony hub does support this) so you can't, for example, pause playback or change the volume by voice control. A simple thing missing is that there does not seem to be a way to just turn off all devices. You can say "turn off (activity name)" but you need to remember the name of the last activity you used.

I don't want to sound too critical though because it does seem to work, so I will finally accept that they have finally delivered on the original promise!

  • When will Google Voice Assistant be available? 1 year ago

Seems they have stopped even answering questions about this. I asked politely months ago, and other have too, but the answer is always “soon”. This was the main reason I bought the remote, so I’m pretty annoyed about it. I received my remote in March so that’s 6 months gone with a key feature that is literally advertised on the box still missing.

  • Google Voice Assistant? 1 year ago

Now we’ll know August, any progress on GVA?

  • How do you get Google voice assistant working? 1 year ago

Sofabaton is not listed when I try to add a device in Google Home?

  • A horrible piece of useless junk 1 year ago

Oh, that explains something that was driving me crazy! With my old Harmony remote, it would only change the power state of devices affected by changing activity. So for example if watching AppleTV on the TV though my AV Receiver then if I switch to Blu-ray, the TV and AVR should stay powered on, the AVR just switches input and the Blu-ray powers up. The X1 tries to turn everything off, then back on again. That’s dumb! Even worse if one of the devices misses the power off or power on command, then the whole thing is messed up and I have to manually turn everything off and start again. This is a really bad problem for the X1. It takes my Smart TV about 20 seconds to power on and the same to power off, and about 10 seconds for the AVR, so just to switch activities I have to wait more a minute. Not to mention, I suspect it’s not good for electronics to be powered of and on again rapidly. Sofabaton, you need to fix this and make your smart remote smarter.

  • Volume buttons lag with Denon receiver 1 year ago

Same here with Marantz AVR. Volume change is really slow like the button repeat is too slow, but can’t find a setting to change that.
