  • Anyone get the manual learning feature to work properly? 1 year ago

Appreciate a timeline for this, and I'll try and be optimistic, but the email responses from support keep telling me I need to manually learn the remote commands, which obviously is not working.

Yes, I posted this as well. It does not work. Even when it shows a good read, the assigned command does not work. These are mostly common OEMs/Vendors. Using the first few sets of generic codes (if the OEM shows up in the list) does not work for most functions. Epson Projector - Epson shows up as an OEM, but the projector models are not listed as being in the database. Epson has a huge share of the projector market and it is odd not to have good support here. Yamaha AVR - Yamaha shows up as an OEM, but the AVR model is not listed in the database. How are the current (last 2 years) models not supported? Tonewinner Pre Pro AT-300 - No Pro equipment/models listed in the database. My hope is that the database just needs massive updates and that this will occur quickly. It seems like a big oversight in bringing a universal remote control solution to market not to have all major OEMs properly supported day one. I will say that I Love the remote design. That being said, the hub /IR blaster functionality is a big weakness of the platform. Limited to only 2 IR blaster cable outs (with no repeater onboard) and it is underpowered. For home theater needs, only having 3 total IR outs is not nearly enough and limits placement.

  • This is what we waited for? Seriously? 1 year ago

I have to agree that the execution of the X1 platform and software is poor at best. I've only had it 1 day and have found countless bugs in most of the major functional components of the system. The worst so far is the manual learning feature. The hub misreads (or not at all) the IR commands from the OEM remotes. Additionally, when you manually assign that function to a button on the remote, it does not work properly. It actually mapped the same (volume up) function for most of the mappings with each key. It is very odd and annoying. I will give them time to sort it out (because I have to), but this many bugs are not really acceptable. Now the remote itself (physical form factor etc.) is great, but the hub and platform are a C- at best.

I went through the IR manual learning process as my pre pro was not listed. Manually adding/learning only works about half the time. It is very frustrating. It does not properly read the IR signal. Even after it said it had successfully added the learned button(s) in the app, when I assigned it on the remote, it does not work correctly. I hope that they start working on bug fixes ASAP.
