As you mentioned, it could be connected by Bluetooth, it is recommended to add your device by Bluetooth code such as other, Android TV and so on. Regarding jumping to the menu page, not sure if you use the back button in the top right corner every time you wake up the remote, if so, please use the scroll wheel to light up the screen, so it won't switch the remote screen.

Moreover, the remote control is kept on the interface before the screen is rested. If it was on the activity page before the screen was rested, it's still here when the screen is lit. If it defaults to ACTIVITY when the screen is lit, maybe some users will have a problem with this.
