The forum lost my entire first paragraph… awesome. I explained how I found a solution to the connection issue by moving the device from my smart home network to my main network. I do this for security, but why the change matters is weird to me. It seems like maybe the app is running a server that the hub has to connect to. That sounds stupid to me, but I’m not sure how else to explain this behavior considering my firewall rules.

There is still a bug of some kind in the app. My iPhone still won’t ask for network permission no matter what I do, so it can’t see the hub. I have to use my iPad, which is pretty inconvenient. If I reinstall the app, it’ll ask for Bluetooth permission, but never local network permission.

Made some minor progress with this stupid thing. I noticed my iPhone running 16.3.1 and app 3.3.0 will not ask me to allow the app to use the local network. It asks about Bluetooth, but not the local network. I've checked the privacy section already. The app shows in Bluetooth, but not Local Network. So it's the app to blame. However, my iPad running 16.3.1 and app 3.3.3 *does* ask for local network permission, and therefore will show the hub in the connection list. It still won't connect though, it just spins for maybe 10 seconds and gives up without any error message.
