@SofaBaton. As mentioned in the original post I tried pairing and the remote never goes into pairing mode. I've done it a few times before the update and the instructions in the phone app are clear, it just doesn't work anymore after the update. The other issue is no ir devices are working after the update. My projector and avr both won't work. Is there a way I can get a replacement or a refund?

Thanks for this. Due to an issue with my X1 I moved back to my U1 and was having the same issue. I opened it up and sure enough, the ir led was pointed straight down at the bottom plastic housing, I wonder how it even worked in the first place. Now it's great.
