Upon further testing with a DirecTV supplied remote. I confirmed that when using the DirecTV remote, a short (average human) button press on a button results in only one command is sent. For repeats, that is holding the button down, the first command is sent then second command is sent about 1.5 seconds later, then commands are sent about every 1/2 second thereafter until the button is released. I hope this information is useful.

Issue is worse for the DirecTV HR54-500. it now seems that four commands are sent for each short (average human) button press. If I make a very, very short button press, one command is sent. NOTE this is not an issue with the other devices I have (Sony AV receiver, Roku Ultra, Vizio TV).

So do I delete the Directv device and then add it back?

OK I should have thoroughly tested before commenting. It seem the issue is with every command sent by X1 to HR20-54. pressing CH up or Dn HR20-54skips one channel, pressing pause, HR20-54 pauses then goes back to play, etc. HELP

Adding to the above have the same issue with the (Fast) Forward and Rewind commands. With each press of the X1 button, the HR20-54 responds by two steps in speed i.e. from play speed to 2X, instead of to 1X
