In fact I might have realised the issue. The devices in the cabinet more or less work with the IR cables disconnected. This implies they are managing to pickup IR commands via the hub, bouncing off walls and through the cabinet doors, and the IR blasters via cable may not be effective, i.e. as I lean forward with the remote, maybe the IR signal is bouncing off me back to the cabinet. I need to do some more troubleshooting.

So As I said originally, I will try to make this more clear. The hub is atop my AV cabinet and controls devices not in the cabinet fine. For 3 devices in the AV cabinet, I am relying on the IR blaster extender cables, which also work fine. But fir one of these devices in the cabinet, the Lyngdorf MP-40 it only works if my seated position when using the remote is less than 4ft from the AV cabinet. Why does the seated position and distance using the remote have any effect on whether the hub, can control the device via the IR cables inside the cabinet?
