I actually tried that thought this was the best way to achieve what I was looking for. But activities are SLOW. Switching from one activity to the other takes 10-15 seconds. Each activity assumes you are starting from zero - have to turn on devices, etc. activities need to have a sense of the previous activity meaning. If activity 1 powered on devices such as a TV, activity 2 needs to know the state of TV (now on) and skip that step when you switch to that activity. Right now, each activity is isolated from the other. Not very smart.
