How to Link SofaBaton to Google Home
Note there are no active functions yet (Oct 2022)
There are some tutorials out there on linking Alexa controllers to the X1. This is how to link Google's.
Steps:
Open Google Home app
Click + in upper left
Click “Set up device”
Select“Works with Google”
Click search icon upper right
Enter Sofa
Select Sofabaton
This should launch an AWS authenticate web page. (If it doesn’t launch AWS correctly, try clicking on Sofabaton again or click and hold for a moment longer.) The AWS page will show the Sofabaton logo and login fields, into which you need to enter your SofaBaton X1 account login info.
This will link Google Home to the X1 Hub, and will populate Google Home’s Linked fields with a Sofbaton service.
However, there are “no devices” encountered yet (e.g. I show “TP Link Kasa 14 devices” etc. for other linked services). So despite the linkage, no functions are active yet.
It will be interesting to see what voice commands will get implemented. Will it just be “Turn X On/Off” or will we get the fine resolution of the SofaBaton database for each device? For me, I don’t care a whit if it’s only “On/Off, Up/down, Start/stop”. But if I can say any of the available key or scroll commands, that would be something!
Note that AFAIK, the voice assistants will only launch Activities, not Device commands.
