Simulate "activities" with "dummy" devices and macros?

I am seriously considering a U1 as a replacement to my Logitech Harmony remote. The piece I'm trying to reconcile are the activities available in the LH remote as these get used the most. Can I create duplicate devices or "dummy" devices and use a combination of most frequently used device keys and macros in the duplicate devices? Is this a viable solution?
