Remote won't turn on

As the title says, I'm trying to use my x1 remote as my U1 is slowly getting less responsive, but the X1 won't turn on. Not sure why, I have charged it, and the hub still works, but the screen on the remote won't turn on. Why help would be great, or should it just be replaced?
