My X1 is connected to my Xiaimi Mi Box S via bluetooth. If this device is switched off it can't be switched on with the sofabaton.
I tried with device type Other and with the NVIDIA Shield as device.
With the original remote I can switch it on. The sofabaton is connected with bluetooth but shows up as a keyboard icon in Android TV. The original remote has a different icon.
