App unable to connect to Hub over Wifi

I just purchased the X1. I installed the latest version of the app (version 3.1.9) from the Google Play store. I'm able to put the Hub on my wifi network using bluetooth. However, when the App goes to connect to the Hub using Wifi, I am unable to get past this message: "Searching for X1-Hub via Wi-Fi".

I tried emailing customer service directly, but all they want me to do is update the firmware on the Hub. I can't update the firmware on the Hub until the app connects to the Hub and that is not happening.

This could be a wifi issue. I use Unifi access points for Wifi. But it also doesn't work when I use my phone (which runs the app) as a hotspot and connect the Hub to that.
