Device sleep causes out of sync activities

A problem I've encountered is when your TV and other devices eventually go to sleep when not in use, the remote remains in whatever activity they were in before, but you can't re-click the center wheel to start the same activity again without first pressing the off button. Would be better if the same activity sequence could be launched each time it's pressed. My workaround currently is to leave the remote in one activity and assign device power toggles to the extra colored buttons at the bottom, but I'd prefer if this was solved by a software update to the remote to change this behavior.
