Volume controls - with Denon AVR-S60H

I have the X1S, and now that I have finally figured out how to set my power configurations (it took me forever) for my Denon AVR-S960H a/v receiver all is realtively well. Whew.

My current issue is that volume control (either up or down) requires press-release-press-release etc to increase or decrease the volume for any/all of my activities.

I have the X1S remote set with both short and long press for volume control, and have tried the Command Repeat setting (either as 1 or 3) with no impact. I even tried adding the volume up/volume down commands from the Denon remote - no change.  Same thing happens if I use the remote function on the Sofabaton app.

Is there a way to make some adjustments somewhere so that the X1S remote will increase/decrease volume levels simply by holding the assigned button? 

Update the code base?

Use a different code base?
