App fails on multiple devices

I am trying to set up a new U2.

On Android 13 when I install the app, once I've logged in using either a new account or my Google ID, the app just returns me to the Android screen. I can see the app in the task switcher, but if I click on it get the sofabaton logo and then I'm just returned to the Android screen. I have tried every possible combination of rebooting my phone, installing and uninstalling the app, setting up location permissions before or after I run the app tor the first time, and everything else I can think of. Since the app is not generating any messages I have no idea what to try next.

So I tried on an Amazon tablet. There I get as far as the screen where I can choose between the U1/2 or the X1, but when I choose the U1/2 I get a pop-up that warns me that the app needs location services to be turned on. I get this warning whether or not location services have been enabled for the app. So when I click to continue I'm taken to the settings panel for the app. When I return from there, I get the same message regardless of the current setting for location services for the app. This turns into an endless loop of activity, accomplishing nothing.

Setup of the U1 was so easy, and setup for the U2 seems like an impossibility. Do I need to look elsewhere for a vendor whose software actually works?
