Wish list for the next update

I have been using the X1 for over a year now and am generally happy with the design and functionality, however there are issues that should be fixed with the next update:

  1. Often (but not always) buttons need to be pressed twice before anything happens. One press to wake up and another for the function. This behavior is very annoying and different from any other remote I have ever used. Physical buttons should always respond immediately. When using the scroll wheel to select a menu item, it's fine for the remote and display to wake up first, but that shouldn't happen with physical buttons.
  2. When controlling my Technisat K4 ISIO cable receiver (or any other Technisat device), the signal repeat is too fast. Most inputs are repeated twice, e.g. Play/Stop. I've created macros for each key which don't work, and added a short delay before or after the command. This helps partially, but sofabaton should solve the problem. I never had such problems with Logitech remotes.
  3. Long press (of e.g. the home button) can be configured for Zidoo Z9x and Orbsmart R81 media players, but it does not work with X1. Long press only delays the command configured for short press. Scrolling through a file list with the up or down arrow keys also does not work. Navigating up or down an entry in a list works, but nothing happens with a long press on the keys. This should be fixed. On other devices (e.g. TV) scrolling works without problems.
  4. This is a hardware problem and cannot be fixed by a firmware update: The scroll wheel does not work reliably. When I scroll, often either nothing happens or it goes in the wrong direction. I already complained about this problem last year and received a free replacement. Unfortunately, it has the same problem with the scroll wheel, and it's getting worse. This seems to be a common problem and we have to live with it. I hope that sofabaton will use better hardware in the next generation of remotes (if there will be an update).
