ONE button press sends a rapid-fire string of command??

OK so programming my U2 was easy, but this cannot be right... Pressing a button ONCE sends a string of that one command?  For example, everything I try does this: I press Power once, the remote sends Power Power Power Power Power Power Power Power.  I press Channel up, and the remote sends "up" like 20 times!  There seems to be no settings for the actual remote unit other than for the "color OLED" white-only text screen....
