Yamaha RX-V479 AV Receiver not switching inputs

When I try to switch an activity that requires input switching, the screen on the receiver will briefly display the input that I am trying to switch to but it never actually switches inputs. Then the rx-479 screen will displaythe input that I am trying to change from.
