I have a U1, and I was able to get it working with my Dish Network Hopper, although the U1 cannot learn anything from the Dish remote.
I bought a U1 for my parents for Christmas, and they have a Dish Wireless Joey connected to their TV. None of the Joey devices in the cloud will work, and their U1 is unable to learn anything from their Dish remote.
Is Sofabaton/Dish compatibility just broken? I was loving it until I hit this wall. It's kindof a deal-breaker.
