I used Harmony for years, then stopped because of non-IR equipment like Comcast and an LG OLED with the magic remote. Now we have a new 4K system with an LG OLED, Denon X3800H, Xfinity XG1v4, Sony X800M2 disc player, and Firestick 4K Max.
First question, how does the X1 interface with that equipment? I assume no magic pointer on the LG, but I can live without that. But, can I access and maneuver in the LG settings while using other activities? For example, when watching Comcast, the X1 arrows talk to the Xfinity box. If I go to the LG settings, will the arrows still be talking to Xfinity? If so, does that mean I need to start a new activity just to check the TV settings? On Comcast, I assume no voice commands, but does it use IR for other commands? I’ve always found the RF interface on their XR11 and XR15 remotes to be much more responsive. So, how does the X1 communicate with the Xfinity box? Firestick is a Bluetooth device. Does X1 work well with it aside from the lack of voice commands?
What is the user interface like with the small number of actual buttons? It seems like there would be a lot of scrolling and selecting for functions that are single button presses on device remotes. Harmony had a good number of actual buttons that map to device remotes.
I use some functions on my Denon remote frequently with all devices – buttons like info, options, and setup to deal with audio codecs along with the colored buttons for sound modes. I don’t want to go into device mode to use those functions (might as well grab the Denon remote at that point). I assume I’d need to add commands to each activity to incorporate those buttons. If so, again, does that mean lots of scrolling for those functions?
Thanks for your guidance.
