Hub doesn't respond to activity starts

Occasionally when starting an activity there is no response from the hub. The hub lights do not flash , none of the devices turn on but the remote chosen activity lights up and trying to communicate with hub. When I open the app on my phone the hub will then "free up" the communication problem with the remote and everything starts working. 

This has been happening for some time and have reported it via the app a couple of times but haven't received any acknowledgement about the issue. Others seem to be having the same issue. Hopefully it will be resolved soon as there are other family members that want to throw the remote in the trash. 

X1 remote firmware v9, hub v13.
