Okay so Harmony is dead and my account also seems to be which is a major PITA but I was looking for something "better" anyway. But, that's a bit complicated.
I use a Philips TV that I really want to have discreet power on/off for, it's a very recent model that I believe has Bluetooth control capability, I know has IP JSON control and I know has a dumb I/O IR toggle, which is not ideal.
A Yamaha amp, I doubt that's a problem.
Apple TV I know it's for the X1.
All this is connected to a home automation system, Homeseer though I can also use Hubitat if meed be to run routines based on activities so, watch TV, listen to music, switch between the two.
I know that all sounds pretty simplistic but I am dumbing it down. A lot.
I can make use of IFTT if need be as well.
But, what I need to know is, can I setup an Alexa voice command to reliably switch from Apple TV to music, shut down everything, know that the TV is in an on or of state and/or act accordingly based on the activity and so on.
Ideally (IP?) see the amp is on/off and act accordingly?
Lighting, home modes and a bunch of stuff alters based on what mode I put stuff into and though I bodged it up with a Harmony remote I'd prefer a better solution. I've also bodged it to "work" with a Broadlink RM4 but it's not ideal, far from it as I can't alter things I would want to, web interface is nonexistent and as for entering hex codes to get discreet I/O, well, forger it as it ain't happening. Or at least, not easily without being a code monkey.
What I need to do is to be able to issue commands like, "Alexa turn on Apple TV" and it fires up Apple TV, Philips TV, the amp, switches to the correct input/scene and waits for me to do something. Along with telling the HA system what to do.
But equally and, this is the challenge, say "Alexa turn off Apple TV" or, "Alexa listen to music" and it powers off everything or just the TV etc, switches to the correct input/scent and tells the HA what to do.
What I'm no sure of is, if the X1 cann do this and don't want to drop £200+ to find out it can't.
So I'd welcome any input.
